Examples of Kh ā tam used in other contexts 45 In the above had ī th , the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa declares that he is superior to the earlier prophets because he is their Kh ā tam ! No one can deny that the Holy Prophet sa considered his Khatamiyyat (being the seal) as his Fadh ī lat [i. e. , superiority]! This is factual proof that the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa also used the word kh ā tam to idiomatically mean “best” and this precedent is the reason why this word was continuously used over the centuries to mean “best. ” There are countless examples of this usage in Arabic literature. Hence, the Ahmadiyya Muslim understanding of the word kh ā tam is contemporary to the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa , not contemporary to Farhan Khan! Furthermore, Farhan Khan says that the mufassir ū n followed the Us ū l-ut-Tafs ī r [Principles of commentary of the Holy Qur’ ā n] by commonly referring to pure Arabic poetry and literature to understand the meanings of Qur’ ā nic words. Let us see how the mufassir ū n themselves understood the word kh ā tam. Hazrat Im ā m R ā z ī , one of the greatest mufassir ū n in the history of Isl ā m and a very well-acknowledged authority on Tafs ī r-ul- Qur’ ā n [i. e. , commentary of the Qur’ ā n], writes: a اFحiاۃ a و a اFوجود a اﻻرب]ۃ a باFخcع a Bازوا a اFدرجۃ a Kذہ a @eد a ان a Mجب a اFخاتم a و a اaFل. a خاتم a BاF]`ل a اF]`ل a و a واF`درۃ a :cم a و a @icہ a اﷲ a ‘c< a ر:وeFا a ان a ترٰی a اﻻ a اZBل a aMون خاتم a Dان a dFا a اﻻHبiاء a اZBل a Dان a اeFبiiن a مgic@ a اdFخcوCات a خاتم a Dان a dFا a اﻻWHان a و a اWF—م a و a اcYFوٰۃ a خاتم a Dان a dFا a اF]`ل a DذاFک a اgcZBا a Dان a اFجdWاiHۃ a اFخcع a اZBل a Dان a اFج—ل a ذی a حZرۃ a Gن a اF_اZLۃ a اFخcع اgcdDا a و
