698 CHAPTER 67 THE WALL On January 5th, 1900, Mirza Imam D i n, a cousin of Ahmad as , began to erect a wall with Kacha bricks to block the lane which leads to the Masjid Mub a rak from the south. It appears that the wall (8 X 10 X 1½) was completed by January 7th. Ahmad’s as visitors and guests were all very much inconvenienced. If they wanted to offer prayers in the mosque or see Ahmad as they had to take a long winding way with which they were not familiar. As the direct and the most frequented way was now completely blocked Ahmad as was practically besieged by his enemies. The first thing that Ahmad as naturally did was to seek the help of God. He prayed to Him in sore distress. The same day (January 5th), the Word of God came to him. Sayyid Fa d l Shah ra (born I860, died 1924) was with him at the time. So Ahmad as dictated to him the Divine words as they came. They were published in the Al- H akam , dated January 24th, 1900; they may be translated as follows:
