GROWTH OF THE MOVEMENT as 564 Messiah as would judge between all peoples the journal was named Al- H akam —the judge. The first issue was published on October 8th, 1897, having been printed at the Riy ad -e-Hind Press, 135 Amritsar. The first number of the second volume is dated February 20th, 1898, it was published from Qadian and printed at the Anw a r Ahmadiyya Press, Qadian. About December 10th, 1892, the word of God had come to Ahmad as saying, 'A son will be born to thee and grace will be drawn near to thee. ' This was published in a book in February 1893, and on April 20th, 1893, a son was born to Ahmad as. He was named Bashir Ahmad. When he was four or five years old he suffered from sore eyes for a long time and medical treatment seemed to do him no good. Ahmad as prayed and the word of God came to him saying, 'My boy Bashir is cured' and he was cured within a week. He is now a most righteous and learned person, commanding love and respect from 135 Ahmad as had felt the need of a press at Qadian as early as 1892. An Ishtih a r was issued and a fund was opened for this purpose; but, it appears satisfactory arrangements could not be made at that time. Sh. It was named D iy a ’ul Islam. This press produced Ahmad’s as publications at cost price (Ahmad’s as statement in Karam D i n’s case, Section 420. I. P. C. dated. 19. 8. 1903). It was for this reason that Ahmad as produced, on 15. 8. 1898 a detailed account of this press in the income tax case. (See statement of Hakim Fa d l D i n in Karam D i n’s case on 20. 7. 1903).
