Khan Bah a dur Sayyid Fate h Ali Shah of Lahore, Deputy Collector, Canals; Hafiz Muhammad Yusuf, Maulaw i Abdul H aq, Maulaw i Am i r D i n, Mirza Am a nullah and others of Lahore were, it appears, the readers of the Ish a ‘atus-Sunnah and were also acquainted with Ahmad as and Maulaw i N u r-ud-D i n ra. Hafiz Muhammad Yusuf and Munshi Abdul H aq ra had also gone to Jammu to request Maulaw i N u r-ud-D i n ra to come to Lahore and explain to them the whole situation. Ahmad as had desired, for various reasons, that Maulaw i Sahib should come to Ludhiana. There was Sh. Abdur Ra h m a n, a young convert from Hinduism, waiting for him and Maulaw i Abdul Kar i m had also come there. So he reached Ludhiana on April 12th, and having discussed all matters with Ahmad as , Maulaw i Sahib came to Lahore on the evening of the 13th and stayed with Munshi Am i r D i n. At 10 p. m. , says Muhammad Husain, Hafiz Muhammad Yusuf sent Haji Muhammad D i n, the brother of Munshi Am i r D i n, to Muhammad Husain to tell him that the Maulaw i Sahib had reached Lahore and that Muhammad Husain should come in the morning to have a talk with him. But Muhammad Husain would not comply with their wishes unless and until Maulaw i Sahib requested him in writing to hold a formal debate with him. This nobody had in view.
