as AT HOSHIARPUR 145 following are the names of a few of those who were present there that evening: Shatru Ghan, eldest son of Raja Rudder Sen, ruler of Suket; Shatranj i , younger son of the Raja of Suket; Janm i J i , another son of the Raja; Babu Mulraj, copyist; L. R a m Lachhman, a headmaster of Ludhiana; and Babu Har Kishan D a s, a second master, of Hoshiarpur. The second meeting took place at the house of Sh. Mehr Ali on March 14th, 1886. It was Ahmad’s as turn to start, but Murl i dhar would not let him do so. He insisted that Ahmad as should first of all verify his statement made on the previous day to the effect that Swami Day a nand had written in the Saty a rath Park a sh that the souls of human beings fall as dew on vegetables and are born into this world after being swallowed by women. He insisted that Swami Day a nand had made no such statement. He was told that it was not right to drag the previous proceedings into the second meeting, and that, if he must have the reference, he could have it later 30. But he was obstinate. The audience protested against his attitude, 30 The fact was that Ahmad as did not have any copy of Saty a rath Park a sh with him at that time, and the book which Murl i dhar offered for the purpose was written in Nagri, a language which Ahmad as did not know. Murl i dhar was further emboldened in his demand by his knowledge of the fact, which Ahmad as learnt later, that it was a late edition of the book and did not at all contain the passage quoted by Ahmad as from an earlier edition. On his return to Qadian Ahmad as wrote about it to a Brahmu Sam a jist gentleman at Lahore, Naubin Chandar by name, and he informed Ahmad as that the A rya Sam a jists had deleted the statement under discussion from the book and that it was found only in its first edition which he possessed. So he supplied Ahmad as with the required quotation and it was published in the report of the controversy.
