as EARLY LIFE 57 revelation was true; the tenant and his friends had told a lie. His father had won the case. About 1868, Mirza Ghulam Q a dir became seriously ill. Though Ahmad as had seen a dream which meant that his brother would die, yet he prayed to God for his recovery. His prayer was accepted and it was revealed to him that his brother would recover, as he did. Ahmad as devoted most of his time to study and the books that he studied most were the Holy Quran, Bukh a r i , Mathnav i R u m i and Dal a ’ilul Khair a t. He had always a pile of books round him when he was at home, and he went out for walks to the north or the east side of Qadian. In his spare time he taught young children Nim a z. Bhai Kishen Singh had lessons in medicine. He also taught Mirza Sultan Ahmad and Ali Muhammad the usual courses of study in religion and oriental languages. As a pupil of Ahmad as , Mirza Sultan Ahmad became a zealous defender of Islam in his youth. He wrote several articles in the Mansh u r-e- Muhammadi (Vol. 3, No. 23; Vol. 5, No. 1; Vol. 5, No. 4; Vol. 5, No. 13; Vol. 6, Nos. 2 &. 30). The nature and the style of these articles show that they were all inspired by his father. Ahmad as once put his foot on a stool which tipped over, causing the fracture of his right arm. The arm remained weak until the end of his life. He could not lift anything heavy; and even in prayers, while folding his hands over his chest he had to support his right arm with his left hand.
