JESUS as IS DEAD as 308 When the Holy Prophet sa died Umar ra would not believe it. So Abu Bakr ra recited this verse and then Umar ra realised that he had actually died like the rest of the Prophets ( Bukh a r i and Qas t al a n i and Kit a bul Milal wan Ni h al by Shahrast a n i ). I may also mention here one or two other traditions which show that Jesus as is dead and cannot return to this world. , Ibni Kath i r Vol. 2, Alyaw a q i tu wal Jaw a hir , Shara h Maw a hibul Ludunniyya , Vol. 6, Fat h ul Bay a n Vol. 2, and Mad a rijus S a lik i n of Ibni Qayyam Vol. 2, all mention a saying of the Holy Prophet sa to the following effect: 'If Moses as and Jesus as were alive, they could not but follow me. ' Again, the following books record the tradition that Jesus as had lived for 120 years: H ijajul Kir a mah (p. 428), Ibni Kath i r Vol. 2 , Maw a hibul Ludunniyya Vol. I, Kanzul ‘Umm a l Vol. 6. It should be remembered that, according to Islam, the dead do not return to this world, He who is dead is gone for ever. Times have indeed changed. Ahmad as says: 'The Islamic prophecy that the Promised Messiah would break the Cross indicated that in his time, with God’s will, means would be brought into existence with which the truth about the Crucifixion would be laid bare. Then died like all mortal beings. (See the Weekly Ar-Ris a lat , dated 11-5-1943, Vol. I, No. 642).
