as CLAIMS TO BE THE MESSIAH as 225 'I say it over and over again, and nothing can stop me from saying it, that I am the one who has been sent to regenerate mankind so that religion and the love of God may be established afresh in the hearts of men, I have been sent like the one who came after Moses and whose spirit was taken up into the heavens during Herod’s reign, after much suffering '( Fat h -e- Islam ). ' 51. 51 He also discussed the five ways in which he was striving to achieve his purpose: (1) publications, (2) leaflets, (3) interviews, (4) correspondence and (5) Bai‘at. He needed funds for carrying on his work, therefore he appealed to Muslims for help. He had devoted friends like Maulaw i N u r-ud- D i n ra , each of whom was prepared, he said, to bear the entire cost of his publications, but this he would not allow. He wanted the whole community to co-operate with him so that they might all be blessed. He made special mention of a few of his devoted followers, such as Maulaw i N u r-ud-D i n ra , Sh. Muhammad H usain ra of Moradabad, Hakim Fa d l D i n ra of Bhera and Mirza A‘ z am Baig ra of Samana. At the end of this book he announced that he would welcome all kinds of questions, and also objections against Islam, the Holy Quran, the Holy Prophet sa and his own self: and that, if they were communicated to him, he would answer them all together in book form.
