212 KHILAFAT-E-R A SHIDAH Allah raised Abu Bakr S idd i q ra and showed for the second time the manifestation of His Power… That is also what happened at the time of M u sa as (Moses)…. The same happened with Christ as. ” 39 Just as Hadrat Abu Bakr ra became Khalifah after the Holy Prophet sa , Khilafat was similarly established after Hadrat M u sa as (Moses) and ‘ I sa as (Jesus Christ). So a person who argues that there was no Khilafat after ‘ I sa as (Jesus Christ) does so entirely against the saying of the Promised Messiah as , and presents such an argument which is not supported by the A ha d i th of the Holy Prophet sa nor history, nor is it supported by the Promised Messiah as. Another Objection of the Opponents and Its Response The fourth objection is that if this verse refers to persons, then it raises another issue: it is concerned with two types of personalities—Prophets and kings. As for the type of Prophets who appeared before the Holy Prophet sa , they ceased to come after him. As for the kings he did not like it; he clearly stated that the Khulaf a ’ who follow him would not be kings. Thus it is argued that we should take the promise in this verse to apply to the nation as a whole, and not to 39 Al-Wa s iyyat , pp. 6-7, R uha n i Khaz a’ in , Vol. 20, by Hadrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian.
