CHAPTER THREE Evidence from Medical Literature We have come across a piece of highly valuable evidence concern- ing the deliverance of Jesus, the Messiah, from the cross, whose authenticity just has to be accepted. It is a medical preparation known as the 'Ointment of Jesus' [Marham-i-Isa] and is found recorded in hundreds of medical books. Some of these books were compiled by Christians, some by Magians or even Jews, and some by Muslims. Most of them belong to very early times. Investigations show that in the beginning, based on oral tradi- tion, the preparation came to be known by hundreds of thousands of people. Later this prescription was duly written down. First, in the days of Jesus, the Messiah, shortly after the crucifixion, a pharmacopoeia was compiled in Latin, which contained this pre- scription and in which it was stated that it had been prepared for the treatment of the wounds of Jesus, the Messiah, may peace be on him. Later, that work was translated into several other lan- guages, until, in the time of Mamun-ar-Rasheed, it was translated into Arabic. And strange are the ways of divine providence, that
