Hazrat Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad 32 Finally, the worshipper turns their face towards the right (Illustration 7) and says 17 : ِّٰ للا 羡 ُ وَرَحَْة 羡 ْ عَلَیْکُم 羡 اَلسَّلَمُ Assal a mu ‘ala i kum wa ra h matull a h. Peace be upon you and the mercy of All a h. Then the worshipper turns their face towards the left and says the same words. The nam a z is now finished and the worshipper is free to do as they please. A prayer performed in accordance with the instructions set out above ought to take a few minutes to perform. NAM A Z TIMINGS There are five times prescribed for the daily nam a z. [They are as follows]: The first time is from dawn to sunrise [and is known as Fajr]. The nam a z comprises two rak‘ a t [which are obligatory and performed in congregation] and 17 This is only in those cases where the nam a z is two rak‘ a t. If the prayer comprises of three or four rak‘ a t then the worshipper ought to stand after reciting the tashahhud and perform the remaining one or two rak‘ a t in the prescribed manner, reciting all the relevant passages and words mentioned above and complete the nam a z in the manner that has been laid out.
