367 organised by it. The Ahmadiyya Movement also maintains a mosque at its center in Washington and has established mosques and meeting places in several other cities of the United States. The role of Islam in the world is the same today as it has been through the centuries, namely, to help establish and foster direct communion between man and his Maker, and to bring about beneficent adjustment in the relationship between the different sections of mankind. However, the reach and pattern of human thought and life have become, and are daily becoming, vaster and more complex; life has taken on new and unfamiliar dimensions. It looks as if, in the annals of human race, the present century will stand out as a bridge between the ancient and the modern, the old and the new. It might be designated as the Great Divine. But truth is fundamental and eternal. It remains constant in all the changing complexities of life. Divine guidance as revealed in the Quran and proclaimed adequate for all mankind through the ages will continue to furnish not only the necessary rules, which in their essence already have been clearly recognised, but also the philosophy that lies behind them, the comprehension of which alone can satisfy reason and understanding, and generate the motive power for action.
