Their occurrence in the same month should serve as an admonition and point to the divine punish - ment which those who persist in hostility must receive. 24 Sometime later, as a step towards the fulfilment of the prophecy, God moved his heart to pray for a pestilence. In one of his Arabic poems (1894), he said: ٖ ْلِہ ي ُ بِسَ ْد ي ِ ُ الْمُب الْفِسْق طَغَی ا َّ فَلَم ٗ ر ِّ ُ الْمُتَب َ الْوَبَاء ْ کَان ُ لَو ْت َّي تَمَن When iniquity and ungodliness rose to a deadly height; even as flood reaches its dangerous level, I wished from God that a pestilence should come and destroy; اس ِ عِنْد َ اُوْلِی النُّھٰی َّ َك َ الن ال ھَ َّ فَاِن 25 ٗ ٍ یُدَمِّر َل ال ْ ضَ ٰ مِن وَاَوْلی َّ اَحَب For, according to the wise, it is better for people to die than to become involved in fatal disbelief and misguidance. Then, in 1897, in his book Sir a j-e-Mun i r , he quoted a revelation of his: 26 ْح َ الْخَلْق ِ عَدْوَاَنا ي ِ یَا مَس O Messiah who has been sent for human welfare; help us to avert the plague. Commenting on this he wrote: وہ ی اور ہن ولعمم سک وتق وپری وہں یگ، ا� ی ہ � ی ھ�و� ی سک زامےن یک ربخ� �یک د اور دورسا وہ وتق ٓاات ےہ ہک داع ےس زدنہ وہےگن. ی ہ وتق ےہ وج دُاعےس رمےت �
