57 A © adhrat Maul ā n ā Ghul ā m Hussain Ay ā z had the good fortune to serve the cause of preaching Isl ā m in Singapore. During the Japanese occupation, no one dared to utter a word. But Maul ā n ā Ay ā z preached his message without any fear. Everyone was surprised why he was immune from the Japanese authorities. But all this was due to the divine assistance, which a D ā ‘ ī ilall ā h enjoys at every step. Once, a Maulavi alleged that the Holy Qur’ ā n of A ™ mad ī s was different from the Holy Qur’ ā n of non-A ™ mad ī s. Maul ā n ā Ayaz refuted the allegation vigorously amongst the crowd. The Mull ā s had already prepared the public against the A ™ mad ī missionary, therefore, some people started assaulting him and dragged him to the stairs of the mosque from where he was pushed down the stairs and he fell headlong. It resulted in injuries to his head and back, and he passed out. He remained there on the roadside and neither anyone informed the police nor took him to the hospital. The divine help came just by chance. An A ™ mad ī military officer, Col. Taq ī udd ī n A ™ mad passed that way. He saw someone lying injured on the roadside. Out of human sympathy he got down from his jeep, came near the man and recognized him immediately. He took him to the hospital at once and thus Maul ā n ā ’s life was saved, whereas non- A ™ mad ī opponents were quite sure that the man had died. [34]
