266 THE HOLY WAR G-If this is indeed the teaching, please present the verse from the Holy Quran. However, those who killed with swords, verily died by swords; those who unjustly robbed the poor, were themselves robbed; as they sowed, so did they reap. On the contrary, they were treated rather leni- ently, for which much objection is raised these days as to why they were treated that way. They should all have been killed. A-The Quran gives permission to hide your faith in a state of fear. G-If this is the teaching of the Holy Quran, then why does the Quran state: And: ¹)Sūrah at-Taubah, Ruku )3( - وَجَهَدُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنْفُسِهِمْ And that: 2 ]Pt. [ 28/9-0 كَانَّهُمْ بُنْيَانٌ مَّرْصُوصٌ 3 وَلَا يَخْشَوْنَ أَحَدًا إِلَّا الله 22/2 . Pt] The fact is that there are grades of believers, as Allah the Almighty states: 4 وَمِنْهُمْ مُقْتَصِدٌ وَمِنْهُمْ سَابِقٌ بِالْخَيْرَاتِ - 22/16 [ . Pt] مِنْهُمْ ظَالِمٌ لِنَفْسِهِ وَمِنْهُم مُّقْتَصِدٌ وَمِ 1. And strive in the cause of Allah with their property and their persons (Sūrah at-Taubah, 9:20). [Publisher] 2.
