After he joined the Movement my father spent the greater part of September, the vacation month of the district courts, at Qadian. He also attended regularly the Annual Conference, which was held in the last week of December. I accompanied him on these occasions. There were opportunities of being in the company of the Promised Messiah as when he went for his walk in the forenoon and when he sat in the mosque (Masjid Mubr a rak ) after the noon, and afternoon Prayer services. The rest of the time I availed myself of every opportunity that offered itself of being in the company of Hadrat Maulaw i N u r-ud- D i n ra. I recall that at one time he used to give a lesson in the forenoon in the Mathnaw i of Maul a n a Jal a l-ud- D i n R u m i. Having matriculated in April 1907, I joined Government College Lahore for the degree course of the Punjab University in May. During the summer vacation of that year when I was at home at Sialkot my father received a post card from Hadrat Maulaw i N u r-ud-D i n ra to the effect that I should make my pledge of allegiance to the Promised Messiah as. In my own estimation I had been a member of the Ahmadiyya Movement ever since September 3, 1904, when I had been privileged to behold the blessed countenance of the Promised Messiah as in Lahore, and had deemed myself included in the pledges made by my parents a few weeks later at Sialkot in my presence. Nevertheless, in pursuance of the direction of Hadrat Maulaw i N u r-ud-D i n ra conveyed to my father, I made the pledge at the hands of the Promised Messiah as at Qadian on September 16, 1907.
