IDEAL DISCIPLE Hadrat Maulw i Nur-ud-D i n ra — Khalifatul Masih I 98 been tantamount to plunging in the ocean or jumping into the fire, he would have complied without hesitation, in the full certainty that whatever he had been asked to do was wholly beneficial. This is in accord with the teaching of the Holy Quran: "It may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you, and it may also be that you prefer a thing and it may be the worse for you. Allah knows all and you know not (2:217). " "It may be that you dislike something in which Allah has placed abundance of good (4:20). " It is worthy of note that Amatul H a’ i , daughter of Maulaw i N u r-ud-D i n ra , when she grew up, married Hadrat Sahibz a da Mirz a Bashir-ud-Din Ma h m u d Ahmad ra , the Promised Son and second Successor of the Promised Messiah as. On one occasion Maulaw i N u r-ud-D i n ra was occupied with Prayer when he heard the Promised Messiah as call him. He forthwith interrupted his S al a t (Prayer) and went over to the Promised Messiah as. 28 Sticklers for strict compliance with prescribed procedure might question the propriety of his action, but a similar gesture on the part of another disciple, which was observed by the Promised Messiah as , had his approval. Maulaw i Sayyid Sarwar Sh a h, another eminent divine, happened to be a little late for a Prayer service and arriving in the mosque during the course of the service took his place at the extreme right end of the last row of the worshippers. At the conclusion of the service he reverted to the standing posture to continue his worship so as to make up the portion of the service that he had missed.
