Fifth Friday Sen11011 Nov 9, 1990 historians are unfamiliar. All the realities are wide open before them and yet they prefer to be oblivious. Whatever is happening in the Middle East or is about to happen will hurt Islam and the Muslims, and all the gains will go to the non-Muslim states and non-Muslim religious powers. The entire financial burden will be borne by the Muslim countries. This massive troop movement from one continent to the other, involves voluminous costs. It requires mountains of wealth; but these mountains are already piled up by Saudi Arabia and other Sheikdoms in the Western countries. These treasures will be transferred to them in a 'lawful' way abandoning all rights to this wealth, in reward for the total annihilation of an emerging Islamic country and thereby engraving in the minds of all Muslim nations that the very thought of an independent action, even for safeguarding their honour and self-respect would in future be considered a crime! A F1JTILE ATTEi\fPT TO ADVICE IRAQ We tried our best to convince Iraq and sent them several messages through different channels saying that: "for God's sake, for the sake of your own interests and for the sake of that Islamic cause which you claim to defend, retract these unjust steps, explaining that it in no more possible to alter the geographical boundaries on the pretext of historical support. It is now impossible to do so, even in Africa or for that matter in any other part of the world. As such, it is in your own interest; it is in the interest of Kuwait; in the interest of the entire Islamic world; that you withdraw your step and consolidate your strength and strive to unite the Islamic world. " But Alas!, no attention was paid to our advice. The other Muslim Arab countries also failed to pay the least consideration to our plea. Little did they realise that they were acting in liaison with non- Muslim powers , beari ng all the expenses of this cruel endeavour, to completely destroy and decimate a Muslim power, to entail elimination of peace for all times from this part of the world! It is besides the point, whether the peace of the world is thr eatened, but I can say with certainty to these States which are 94
