The Gulf Crisis & The New World Order THE HISTORIC DECEPTIONS OF THOSE PRESENTING THIS ARGUMENT Now let us cast a cursory glance on the history of th. is region to find out what bas been happening in the past and analy:ze the true nature of this dispute. In the world of Islam, the land of Palestine has always been reckoned as a Muslim territory. Now on a large part of this area, the state of Israel is now established and it continues to extend its territory creeping up to the West bank of the River Jordan. This was in fact a matter of historical dispute. Thousands of years earlier, this land was occupied by the Jews who had built synagogues there. So, to the Jews, this land had extraordinary importance. Keeping this ancient history in view, the Western powers have now changed the geography of this region. They showed extreme stubbornness and boldness. They paid no heed to the hues and cries of the Muslim nations and went ahead to establish the State of Israel in Palestinian land. Other nations stood up in support of the Muslim nations questioning the right of these Western powers to plunge into three or four thousand years of history and rekindle a splinter which had been buried in heaps of ash. What right have you, they asked, to accept this ancient claim and change the current geographical boundaries of the world? But the same world powers which are now ganged up and are poised to destroy Iraq, were the very powers that were once united on a self-styled principle that changes in geographical boundaries is an on-going process. Cast a glance at the situation in Kashmir, in Junagharh or in Hyderabad Deccan (India), in fact, there are many such countries which can be cited as witnesses, where as a result of historical claims or even without any claims, geographical boundaries have been altered causing no agitation or threat to the political stability of the world. Non of the international political movements protested against these geographic alterations or cried before the world to join hands and restore the original boundaries. PLUNDER OF THE AFRICAN CONTINENT Not only this, but when we glance at the history of the African continent, even a more strange and frightful spectacle emerges.
