25 is most certainly and conclusively manifested. People say that “ W ar carries two riders”, meaning that the outcome of war can never be certain. It c an result in either victory or defeat, but the war which i s fought for the sake of God Almighty and where supplications are being offered in accordance with E َﻓ َﺼ ِّﻞ ِﻟ َﺮ ِّﺑ َﻚ َو ا ۡﻧ َﺤ ۡﺮ and sacrifices ar e made, then the result is certain and assured. The enemy will certainly be ruined and destroyed. Now let us examine how this guidance was followed by the Holy Prophet sa and how his c ompanions ra carried it out. The foremost responsibility fell on the Holy Prophet sa and he was in fact the first addressee of this commandment. S o let us observe the Holy Prophet’s sa example in acting according to : E َﻓ َﺼ ِّﻞ ِﻟ َﺮ ِّﺑ َﻚ َو ا ۡﻧ َﺤ ۡﺮ So pray to thy Lord and offer sacrifice. Persecution by the Disbelievers of M ecca We see that during the time of the Holy Prophet sa when the Muslims were persecuted in M ecca , the Holy Prophet sa permitted the c ompanions ra to migrate. However, when it was suggested to the Holy Prophet sa to leave the city as well , the Holy Prophet sa replie d, “I cannot leave until God Almighty gives me permission to migrate. ” After the c ompanions ra left, the Kuffaar [disbel ie vers of God and His Message ] from various tribes planned to attack and kill Muhammad sa the Messenger of Allah that night. God Almighty rela y ed this plan to t he Holy Prophet sa. He instructed his cousin, Ha z rat ‘ Al i ra , whom he had raised as a son and who was to marry his daughter, to take his place in his bed. T he Holy Prophet sa himself, along with Ha z rat Abu Bakr ra , set out for the cave of Thaur. As far as the apparent circumstances were concerned, it appears obvious that whoever was to lie down in his bed that night would surely have be en killed. It is also obvious that it was necessary for the Holy Prophet sa to offer someone for sacrifice that day , for God Almighty had commanded him to leave M ecca. Since the Holy Prophet sa had to leave in accordance to the command of God Almighty , someone else had to be
