22 wording here goes like this, “O Prophet! We have granted you kau tha r , so offer prayers and offer sacrifice. Your enemy will remain without issue [children]. ” What d oes Kau tha r D enote ? Now , the question is, what is the connection be tween a kau tha r , which is to be granted in the next life with the enemy remain ing issueless ? O r what is the benefit of sacrificing camels in this worldly life for having rec eiv ed k au tha r in the next life ? Historical records fail to prove that the Holy Prophet sa sacrificed any camels in gratitude for having received kau tha r. T he fact that kau tha r indicates a fountain is correct ; however, the question remains, what is the meaning of kau tha r as it appears in th is vers e? The usual meanings presented do not make any sense regarding this verse. They appear to be unconnected and disparate and would not even be attributed to someone of average intelligen ce let alone to attribute it to God Almighty that, “ O Muhammad , on the Day of Judgment you will be blessed with H auz - e - K au tha r ( a fountain of kauthar ). You must sacrifice a camel. Y our enemies will remain issue less. ” This is akin to saying, “ S trik ing the kn ee damages the eye. ” T he first phrase does not connect with the secon d, nor does the second connect with the third statement , nor do the statements together make any sense. The truth is that kau tha r does not mean any of the above given meanings. God Almighty addresses the Holy Prophet sa and says: E ِا َّﻧ ۤﺎ َا ۡﻋ َﻄ ۡﻴ ٰﻨ َﻚ ا ۡﻟ َﻜ ۡﻮ َﺛ َﺮ “ O Muhammad, Messenger of Allah ! We have granted you abundance in each and every activity. We will increase your Jama'at , We will increase your knowledge, and We will enhance your spiritual blessings. We will increase your physical a we as well. We will bless your lives and wealth as well, and We will continue to bless you with all such success. ” [He also state s ] : َﻓ َﺼ ِّﻞ ِﻟ َﺮ ِّﺑ َﻚ “So pray to thy Lord” “ However , remember well that when a person is blessed with such abundance, some people in the world may become jealous. Whenever
