They state that the reason they are issuing these fat a w a is not that those targeted cannot be married to a Muslim; they cannot be married even to the disbelievers or apostates. Whatever they do, the progeny would be deemed illegitimate. These strong words not hav- ing satisfied them, it is added: What is more, even if they marry an animal, even that supposed progeny would be illegitimate and deprived of inheritance.
