وعی الوطر الْاَمْرِ : The people agreed with one another respecting the affair. لِيُوَاطِئُوْا عِدَّةً : That they may agree in the number )9:37(. الْوَطَرُ A want a need; an object of want or need; that which one proposes to accomplish or of which one is desirous (33:38). وَطَنَ ]aor. يَطِنُ inf. noun وَطَنَ بِالْمَكَان وَطْنًا : He dwelt or resided or settled in the place. الْوَطَنُ : Home; place of permanent residence. مَوْطِنٌ : Place of residence; a scene of battle or a battle-field. فِي مَوَاطِنَ كَثِيرَةٍ : On many a battle-field )9:25(. وَعَدَ ]aor. يَعِدُ inf. noun وَعْدًا and مَوْعِدًا and مَوْعِدَةً and مَوْعُوْدًا [ : He promised (generally a good thing( أَوْعَدَ : He threatened with something evil. وَعَدَ اللهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا : God has promised the believers )24:56( إِنَّهُ كَانَ صَادِقَ الْوَعْدِ : He was strict in keeping his promise )19:55( وَعِيْدٌ : Warning. وَخَافَ وَعِيْدِ : And fears My warning )14:15( مَوْعِدٌ : Promise; pointed or fixed time; promised place; appointment فَأَخْلَفْتُمْ مَّوْعِدِي : You broke your promise to me )20:87( بَلْ لَّهُمْ مَّوْعِدٌ : They have an appointed time for them )18:59( مَوْعِدُكُمْ يَوْمُ الزِّيْنَةِ : Your appointment shall be for the day of the festival )20:60( مَوْعِدَةٌ )female of مَوْعِدٌ )9:114( مَوْعُوْدٌ )pass. part. ): Thing promised. الْيَوْمِ الْمَوْعُوْدِ : The Promised Day )85:3( مِيعَادٌ : Promise: appointment : إِنَّ اللَّهَ لا يُخْلِفُ الْمِسْعَادَ : Allah does not break (His) promise )3:10( لَاخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِي الْمِسْعَادِ : You would have certainly differed with regard to the appointment (8:43). وَعَظَ ]aor. يَعِظُ inf. noun وَعْفٌ[ : He exhorted, admonished or warned; he commanded (him) to obey; he gave (him) good advice or counsel; he reminded (him) of that which should soften his heart. إِنَّمَا أَعِظُكُمْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ : I only exhort you to do one thing Allah admonishes you that you : يَعِظُكُمُ اللهُ اَنْ تَعُودُوْا لِمِثْلِهِ (34:47) never return to the like thereof )24:18( عِظَةٌ) : مَوْعِظَةٌ( : Exhortation; warning, admonition مَوْعِظَةٌ مِّنْ رَّبِّهِ : A warning an admonition from his Lord (2:276). وَعَى ]aor. يَعِي inf. noun وَعَى الشَّيْءَ وَعْيًا : He gathered the thing and preserved it; he grasped together the thing and put in a vessel, a 829
