قصد stone. ثُمَّ قَسَتْ قُلُوْبُكُمْ : Then your hearts became hardened )2:75(. جَعَلْنَا قُلُوْبَهُمْ قَاسِيَةً : We hardened their hearts )5:14( لَيْلَةٌ قَاسِيَةٌ : Very dark night. قَسْوَةٌ : Hardness )275( قشعر اقْشَعَرَّ . [ اِقْشِعْرَارًا inf. noun يَقْشَعِرُّ aor اِقْشَعَرَّ inf. noun and يُقَشْعِرُ . aor] قَشْعَرَ It or he shuddered, quaked, became affected by a tremor or quaking; his or its colour changed. اِقْشَعَرَّ جِلْدُهُ : His skin dried up by reason of mange or scab; or contracted إِقْشَعَرَّتِ الْاَرْضُ means the earth became of a colour inclining to that of dust or ashes and contracted by reason of drought. اِقْشَعَرَّتِ السَّنَةُ : The year became one of drought. اِقْشَعَرَّ الشَّعْرُ : The hair stood up on end on account of cold or fear. تَقْشَعِرُّ مِنْهُ جُلُودُ : At which do creep the skins (39:24). قَصَّ ]aor يَقُصُّ inf. noun قَصَّ الشَّعَرَ قَصَّا : He cut cut off clipped or shore the hair. قَصَّ اللَّهُ خَطَايَاهُ : God diminished his sins. قَصَّ أَثَرَهُ )inf. noun قَصَصٌ( : He followed him in pursuit, or followed after his track or footsteps; he endeavoured to trace or track him or he did so by degrees. وَ قَالَتْ لِاَخْتِهِ قُصِّيْهِ : And she said to his sister, "Follow him up" )28:12( خَرَجَ فُلانٌ قَصَصًا فِي أَثَرِ فُلانٍ : Such a one went forth following the footsteps of such a one in pursuit. فَارْ تَدًّا عَلَى اثَارِهِمَا قَصَصًا : And they both returned by the way by which they had come, retracting their footsteps )1865( قَصَصْنَهُمْ عَلَيْكَ : We have mentioned to thee )4:165( قَصَّ عَلَيْهِ الْخَبَرَ اَوِ الْقَصَصَ أَوِ الرُّؤْيَا )inf. noun قَصَصٌ( : He related to him the piece of news or information or his dream in its proper manner )28:26( قَصَصٌ أَوْ قِصَّةٌ : A story; a narrative; piece of news or information قَاصَّة )inf. noun قِصَاصُ( : He retaliated upon him by slaying or wounding or mutilating him, so as to make him quit or even with him; he made him quit or even with himself. قِصَاصُ : Retaliation. وَلَكُمْ فِي الْقِصَاصِ حَيَوَةٌ : And there is life for you in retaliation (2:180). قَصَدَ aor. يَقْصِدُ inf. noun : قَصَدَهُ أَوْ قَصَدَ لَهُ أَوْ إِلَيْهِ قَصْدٌ : He repaired or betook himself or went towards him; he directed his course to him; he made for him; he aimed at him or it; he sought or endeavoured to attain or obtain him or it; he desired it; he 695
