عم عمی men; tall palm-trees of full tallness and abundance and density. وَبَنَاتِ عَمِّكَ : And the daughters of thy paternal uncle. عَمَّةٌ feminine. عَمَّاتٌ plural. وَبَنَاتِ عَمَّاتِكَ : And the daughters of thy aunts )33:51( أَعْمَامٌ )plural) of بُيُوْتِ أَعْمَامِكُمْ عَمٌ : The houses of your paternal uncles (24:62). عَمِهَ and عَمَهَ ]aor. يَعْمَهُ inf. noun عَمَةٌ[ : He was or became confounded or perplexed and unable to see his right course; he went repeatedly to and fro in error, confusion or perplexity, unable to see his right course; he knew not the right argument or plea or allegation عَمِهَتِ الْاَرْضُ : The land was destitute of signs of the way. لَفِي سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُوْنَ : In their intoxication are wandering in distraction or confusion (15:73). . . . . . . عَمِىَ ]aor يَعْمَى inf. noun عَمَيٌّ[ : He was or became blind of both eyes; he was or became blind in respect of mind. فَإِنَّهَا لَا تَعْمَى It is not the eyes that are : الْأَبْصَارَ وَلكِنْ تَعْمَى الْقُلُوْبُ الَّتِي فِي الصُّدُورِ blind but it is the hearts which are in the breasts that are blind )22:47( is metaphorically used in relation to the mind. جَاءَهُ الأغمى : A blind man came to him )0:3( فَعَمُوْا وَصَمُّوا : They became blind (in mind) and deaf (in intellect( )5:72( عَمِىَ عَلَيْهِ الْخَبَرُ : The information )أَوِ الْاَمْرُ or the affair) was or became confused and obscure to him. َعَمِىَ عَنِ الشَّيْءِ : He was not guided to the thing, and so is فَعَمِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الْأَنْبَاءُ عُمِيٌّ : All excuses, pleas and arguments will become obscure to them )28:67( عَمِّيْتُ الْخَبَرَ : I made the information obscure. فَعُمِّيَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ : Which has been rendered obscure to you )11:29( أَعْمَاهُ : He rendered him or found him blind. وَأَعْمَى أَبْصَارَهُمْ : And He rendered their eyes blind )47:24( عَمَّى as said above: Blindness of the eyes and the mind. فَاسْتَحَبُّوا الْعَمَى : They preferred blindness )41:18( رَكِبَ أَمْرًا عَلَى الْعَمَى : He ventured upon an affair blindly. عَمَّى also means, stature or height; dustie. أَعْمَى غُبَارٌ : Blind of both eyes; blind in respect of mind (and( عَمٍ and هُوَ عَمٍ عَمِي : He is erring. رَجُلٌ عَمِى الْقَلْبِ : An ignorant man. The plural of أَعْمَى is عُمْيٌ and of He : مَنْ كَانَ فِي هَذِهِ اَعْمَى (7:65:27:67) عَمِيْنَ and عَمُوْنَ is الْعَمِي and who is blind in this world )17:73( صُمٌّ بُكْمٌ عُمْيٌ : )They are) deaf, 595
