عرض عرش Having fallen down upon its roofs (2:260); the throne of a king or the ceremonial chair or seat of a king. اَهْكَذَا عَرْشُكِ : Is thy throne like this )27:43( اِسْتَوَى عَلَى الْعَرْشِ : He (God) reigned as king; He became established on the throne of power; He governs every thing (10:4); highest sphere. مِنَ الْعَرْشِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ : From the highest sphere to the earth; the bier of corpse اهتز الْعَرْشُ بِمَوْتِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مَعَاذٍ : The bier shook with pleasure because it carried the dead body of Sa'd; or the throne of the (Gracious God) shook with pleasure because of the death of Sa'd; the nest of a bird such as is built in a tree; the angle, corner or strongest side; the head or chief of a people. عَرْشُ الْقَوْمِ : The chief of the people; the means of support of a thing. ثُلَّ عَرْشُهُ : His power or might departed or his affairs or state became weak and his power and prestige departed, or he perished; regal power, sovereignty, dominion, might or power. عَرْشُ also signifies the صِفَاتٌ تَنْزِيْهِيَّةٌ i. e. the transcendent attributes of God, i e such attributes as are not found in any other thing as in يَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَانِيَةٌ : On that day eight engels will bear the throne of thy Lord (69:18); the protuberant part in or of the upper surface of the foot in which are the toes. مَعْرُوْشَاتٌ )plural of مَعْرُوشَةٌ which is feminine of مَعْرُوشُ which is act. part. ( كُرُومٌ مَعْرُوْشَاتٌ : Grape-vines trained upon trellises. جَنَّتٍ مَّعْرُوْشَتِ : Gardens trellised (6:142). عَرَضَ ]aor. يَعْرِضُ inf. noun عَرَضَ الشَّيْءَ بِفُلانٍ . [ عَرْضٌ : He showed, manifested, presented the thing to such a one. عَرَضَ الشَّيْءَ عَلَيْهِ : He mentioned or showed or presented the thing to him or proposed or propounded it to him. عَرَضَ الْجُنْدَ : He made the army to pass by him in review; he reviewed the army. عَرَضَهُمْ عَلَى السَّيْفِ : He exposed them to the sword; he slew them with the sword. ثُمَّ عَرَضَهُمْ عَلَى الْمَلَائِكَةِ : Then He presented them to the angels or put them before the angels )2:32( إِذْ عُرِضَ عَلَيْهِ بِالْعَشِيِّ الصَّفِنْتُ الْجِيَادُ : When they were presented or brought before him )38:32( عَرَضَ لَهُ : It happened or occurred to him. عَرَضَ لَهُ also means it appeared or became apparent to him. عَرَضْتَهُ : I defrauded him in selling. عَرَّضَ لَهُ وَبِهِ : He said a thing which he . . . . 563 6
