سجا سجل كَلْبٌ مَسْجُورٌ : A dog having an iron-collar upon his neck. وَالْبَحْرِ الْمَسْجُورِ : And by the swollen sea )52:7(. 28 سَجَلَ ]aor. يَسْجُلُ inf. noun سَجَلَ الْمَاءَ سَجْلٌ : He poured forth the water. سَجَلَ الْقُرْآنَ : He read the Qur'an continuously. سَجَّلَ الْقَاضِي : The judge decided the case judicially and recorded the sentence in the judicial record. سَجَّلَ عَلَيْهِ الْقَاضِي : The judge decided judicially against him and recorded his sentence in the judicial record سَجِلَ به : He threw it from above. سَجَّلَ عَلَيْهِ بِكَذَا : He rendered him notorious by reason of such a thing and stigmatized him with it. سجل : A writing; a roll or scroll for writing upon or written upon; a written statement of contract and the like; a judicial record; an edict; a recorder; a scribe; a notary. كَطَيّ السِّجِلِّ لِلْكُتُبِ : As a recorder rolls up a written scroll (21:15) : Stones like lumps of dry or touch-clay; or stones of clay. مِنْ سِجِّيْلٍ means مِنْ سِجِّلٍ i. e. of what had been decreed for them that they should be punished therewith سِجِيلٌ 28 30 γι سجين. It is also said to be from سجين 28 means the same as meaning Hell, the being changed into . According to some مِنْ سِجِّيْلٍ also means, many and hard; continuous and lasting (11:83). سَجَنَ ]aor. يَسْجُنُ inf. noun سَجْنُ سَجَبَهُ : He imprisoned him. سَجَنَ الْهَمَّ : He kept his anxiety secret, did not reveal it. سِجْنٌ : A prison. دَخَلَ مَعَهُ السِّجْنَ : And there entered with him in the prison )12:37(. مَسْجُوْنٌ and سَجِيْنٌ : Imprisoned. مَسْجُوْنِيْنَ )plural of مَسْجُوْنٌ (. لاَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ الْمَسْجُوْنِينَ : I shall make thee one of the imprisoned )20:30( سجين : A register or book in which record of the evil deeds of the wicked is said to be kept in the other world. كِتَابَ الْفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّيْنِ : The record of the wicked is in Sijjin (83:8). The word also means, anything hard, vehement and severe; continuous, everlasting. The night : وَالَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَى [سَجُو and سَجْرًا inf. noun يَسْجُوْ aor سَجَا was or became silent, quiet or still; became dark, or its darkness extended or was or became continuous, or it was covered by its darkness )933( سَجَتِ الرِّيحُ : The wind became calm. 383
