سبغ سبع grandchildren, progeny a people. وَالْأَسْبَاطَ كَانُوا هُوْدًا أَوْ نَصَارِی : And the children and progeny were Jews or Christians (2:141). اثْنَتَيْ عَشْرَةَ أَسْبَاطًا أُمَمًا : Twelve tribes, distinct peoples )7:161(. السَّبَطُ : The trees having many branches but one root. سَبَعَ ]aor. يَسْبَعُ and يَسْبِعُ inf. noun سَبَعَهُمْ سَبْعٌ : He was or became 6 seventh of them; he made them, with himself, seven; he made them, they being sixty-nine, to be seventy with himself; he took the seventh part of their property. سُبْعَ الْمَوْلُوْدُ : The infant had its head shaven and a goat sacrificed for it on the seventh day. سبع الذِّنْبُ أَنْفُسَهُمْ : The wolf tore to pieces and ate the sheep. سَبَعَهُ : He stole it; he shot at him, namely a wolf, with lance or missile of any kind; he reviled him or he bit him with his teeth as does the سَبْعٌ i. e. wild beast. اَلسَّبَعُ and اَلسَّبُعُ and السَّبْعُ )plural( سِبَاعٌ and سبوع( : The animal of prey; the rapacious animal or whatsoever has fang and tearing claw (or canine tooth with which it attacks and seizes its prey such as the lion, the wolf and the leopard. السَّبْعُ مِنَ الطَّيْرِ : The bird of prey which only eats flesh. وَمَا أَكَلَ السَّبُعُ : What an animal of prey has eaten )5:4( سَبْعَةٌ : Seven سَبْعَةُ رِجَالِ : Seven men. لَهَا سَبْعَةُ أَبْوَابِ : It has seven gates )15:45( سَبْع )feminine(. سَبْعِ بَقَرَاتٍ سِمَانِ : Seven fat cows )12:47( سَبْعًا مِّنَ الْمَثَانِي : Seven, oft-quoted verses )15:88( سَبْعُوْنَ and سَبْعِينَ : Seventy or seventy or more; many. سَبْعِينَ رَجُلاً : Seventy men )7:156( سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً : Seventy or many times )9:80( سَبْعَان : Seven heavens and seven earths. Al-Fazak says: وَكَيْفَ أَخَافُ النَّاسَ وَاللَّهُ قَابِضُ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَالسَّبْعَيْنَ فِي رَاحَةِ الْيَدِ : And how can I fear men when God is holding men and the seven heavens and seven earths in the palm of His hand? سَبْعٌ also means seven or more. Seventh. اسْبُوعٌ : Seven days; a week. 28 سَابِعٌ سَبَعَ ]aor. يَسْبُعُ inf. noun سَبَعَ الْعَيْشُ سُبُوْغٌ : The life became pleasant and plentiful. سَبَغَ الشَّيْءُ : The thing became complete or full. سَبَعَ إِلَى بَلَدِهِ : He tended towards and reached his town. أَسْبَغَهُ : He made it complete, full ample أَسْبَغَ التَّوْبَ : He made the garment wide or long. اَسْبَغَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ نِعْمَتَهُ : God completed or made ample His boon upon him. أَسْبَغَ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعَمَهُ : He (God) has completed 378 :
