راب راع in a leisurely manner. اَرْوَدَهُ : He acted gently towards him; he granted him a delay or respite; he left him alone for a while. فَمَهْلِ الْكَافِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْدًا : So give a respite to the disbelievers and deal thou gently with them for a while (86:18). 28 رَاعَ aor. يَرُوْعُ inf. noun رَوْعٌ and رَاعَ مِنْهُ رُؤُوعٌ : He was afraid of him or it. رَاعَهُ الْأَمْرُ )also( رَوَّعَهُ( : The affair frightened him; it pleased him or rejoiced him. رَاعَةُ also means, it took him by surprise; it (the drink) cooled it (the heart(. سَقَتْنِي شَرْبَةً رَاعَتْ فُؤَادِى : She gave me to drink a draught that cooled my heart. سَقَاهَا اللهُ مِنْ حَوْضِ الرَّسُوْلِ : May God give her to drink from the pool of the Prophet. رَوْع : Fright or fear. خَرَجَ رَوْعُهُ : His fright or fear departed; war or battle شَهِدَ الرَّوْعَ : He was present in the battle. فَلَمَّا ذَهَبَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الرَّوْعُ : And when fear left Abraham )11: 75(. روع : The heart or core of the heart or the part of the heart which is the place of رَوْعٌ )fear( وَقَعَ ذَلِكَ فِي رَوْعِي : that came into my mind. 28 رَاغَ aor. يَرُوغُ inf. noun رَوْغٌ and رَاغَ الصَّيْدُ رَوْغَانٌ : The game turned 28 = aside or away, or it went this way and that, or to the right and left quickly and deceitfully, or it turned aside to deceive him who was behind it. The primary signification of رَوْغٌ is the turning aside to deceive him who is behind one. رَاغَ عَنْ فُلان : He eluded or dodged such a one رَاغَ الطَّرِيقُ : The road deviated. طَرِيقٌ رَائِعٌ : A deviating road. رَاغَ عَنْ كَذَا : He turned away from such a thing and returned, concealing his return رَاغَ إلى فلان : He turned aside to such a one secretly. فَرَاغَ إِلَى أَهْلِه : And he turned aside or went away to his family secretly or quietly, or he returned to his family, concealing his return )51:27( رَاغَ عَلَيْهِ بالضَّرْب : He attacked him secretly or suddenly smiting him. فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًا بِالْيَمِينِ : Then he turned against them secretly, smiting them with the right hand, or because of the oath that he had sworn (37:94). رَابَ ]aor. يَرِيْبُ inf. noun رَيْبٌ and رَابَنِي : [رِيَّةٌ : It (a thing) or he occasioned in me disquiet or agitation of mind; he made me to doubt; caused me to have doubt or suspicion or evil opinion or 350
