ابی ابل ابل اَبَابِيْلُ is used as plural and means camels; a herd of camels; clouds; أَفَلا يَنْظُرُوْنَ إِلَى الْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ : Don't they look at the clouds how they are created (88:18); a large piece of cloud. The word is said to have no singular. According to some its singular is إِبَّوْلٌ which means a separate or distinct portion of a number of birds and of horses and of camels and of such following one another. اَبَابِيْلَ signifies according to some, a company in a state of dispersion, or dispersed companies following one another; or distinct or separate companies like leaning camels. جَانَتْ اِبْلُكَ اَبَابِيلَ : Thy camels came in distinct or separate companies. طَيْرًا اَبَابِيَّلَ : Birds in separate flocks or bevies; or birds in companies from this or that quarter; or birds following one another, flock after flock (105:4) أَبَا الْيَتِيْمَ أَبِّ : He became like a father to the orphan; he brought him up. أَبَوْتُهُ وَأَمَمْتُهُ : I became a father and mother to him. آب : A father; a grandfather or any ancestor; a paternal uncle; anyone who becomes a means for the invention of a thing or of its reformation. جَاءَ أَبُوْكَ : Thy father came (nom. case( . رَأَيْتُ اَبَاكَ : I saw your father (obj. case( مَرَرْتُ بِأَبْيْكَ : I passed by thy father )acc. case( يَا أَبِي or يَا أَبَتِ : O my father in the latter expression the أبَى اَبَى the sign of feminine gender) is substituted for the affix He has a : إِنَّ لَهُ أَبَا شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا .
