رجم رجل of a bird and the hind leg of a quadruped; cont. to أَرْجُلٌ يَدٌ plural and رجلان dual( اُرْكُضْ بِرِجْلِكَ : Strike with thy feet Of them are some that go upon : مِنْهُمْ مَّنْ يَمْشِي عَلَى رِجْلَيْنِ (38:43) 28 28 28 two feet )24:46( أَلَهُمْ أَرْجُلٌ يَمْشُوْنَ بِهَا : Have they feet where with they walk )7:196( رِجْلٌ )plural( أَرْجُلٌ( : Large part of a thing; an army. رِجَالٌ رَجُلٌ plural. رَجُلانِ and رَجُلَيْنِ : Dual). A man (the opposite of اِمْرَاة a woman applied only to one who has attained to puberty and manhood; or as soon as he is born and afterwards also. رَجُلٌ also signifies a woman's husband. رَجُلان کوه sometimes means a man and his wife, predominance being thus attributed to the former. رَجُلٌ means also a man perfect or complete in respect of bodily vigour فُلانٌ رَجُلٌ فِي الرِّجَالِ : He is a man among men, i. e. very strong, perfect or vigorous man. ثُمَّ سَوَّاكَ رَجُلاً : Then He fashioned thee into a man (or perfect man )18:38( رَجُلٌ ( قَوْمَهُ سَبْعِينَ رَجُلاً used as plural): Of his people seventy men )7:156( قَالَ رَجُلانِ : Two men said )5:24( رِجَالٌ لَأَتُلْهِيْهِمْ تِجَارَةٌ وَّلَا بَيْعٌ : Whom neither merchandise nor traffic diverts )24:38( مَا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَا أَحَدٍ مِّنْ رِّجَالِكُمْ : Muhammad is not the father of any of your men )33:41( رَجُلٌ : Footman; a pedestrian, the opposite of فَارِسٌ ; or one having no beast to ride upon in a journey. This word is used both as singular and plural and is also the plural of رَاجِلٌ which means a footman. وَأَجْلِبْ عَلَيْهِمْ بَخَيْلِكَ وَرَجِلِكَ : And urge against them thy horse men and thy footmen )17:65( أَغَارَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِخَيْلِهِ وَ رَجِلِهِ : He suddenly attacked them with his horsemen and footmen. يَأْتُوْكَ رِجَالاً : They will come to thee on foot )22:28( فَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ فَرِجَالاً أَوْ رُكْبَانًا : If you are in a state of fear, then on foot or riding )2:240( رَجُلٌ رَاجِلٌ : A great walker: A man who walks much. 28 رَجَمَ ]aor. يَرْجُمُ inf. noun رَجَمَهُ [رَجْمٌ : He cast stones at or pelted him with stones or he struck and killed him; he stoned him to death; he drove him away. وَجَعَلْنَاهَا رُجُوْمًا لِلشَّيطِيْنِ : We have made them for casting at the devils or for driving them away )67:6( آن يَظْهَرُوْا عَلَيْكُمْ يَرْجُمُوْكُمْ : If they should prevail against you, they would stone you (or stone you to death( )18:21( رَجَمَهُ also means, he cursed him, abused him, boycotted him or forsook 316
