ربص ربط هَلْ تَرَبَّصُوْنَ بِنَا إِلَّا إِحْدَى الْحُسْنَيَيْنِ : Do you look for us anything except one of the two good things )9:52( تَرَبَّصَ عَنِ الْأَمْرِ : He kept back from the thing. مُتَرَبِّصُوْنَ ( مُتَرَبِّصٌ )plural) : Waiting for and one who waits. قُلْ كُلِّ مُّتَرَبِّصٌ : Say each one is waiting )20:136( انا مَعَكُمْ مُّتَرَبِّصُوْنَ : We are also waiting with you )9:52( مُتَرَبِّصٌ also means, one who withholds, or collects and withholds wheat and the like waiting for a time of dearness. [syn. تَرَبُّضُ مُحْتَكِرٌ : Period of waiting. تَرَبُّصُ أَرْبَعَةِ أَشْهُرٍ : The period of waiting is four تَرَبَّصُ بِالشَّيْء . (2:227) months thing. : He looked for or waited for the 28 رَبَطَ ]aor. يَرْبُطُ and يَرْبَطُ inf. noun رَبَطَهُ [رَبْطٌ : He tied bound or made it fast. رَبَطَ عَلَيْهِ : He held back from him or it. رَبَطَ جَأْشُهُ )inf. noun رِبَاطٌ( : His heart became strong, firm and resolute so that he did not flee from the occasion of fear. رَبَطَ اللَّهُ عَلَى قَلْبِهِ : God strengthened his heart. رَبَطَ اللَّهُ عَلَى قَلْبِهِ بِالصَّبْرِ : God strengthened his heart with patience. رَبَطْنَا عَلَى قُلُوْبِهِمْ : We strengthened their hearts )18:15( رَابَطَ الْأَمْرَ )inf. noun رِبَاطٌ and مُرَابَطَةٌ( : He applied himself perseveringly to the affair. رَابَطَ الْجَيْ : The army kept past or remained on the frontier of the enemy. رَابَطَ الْفَرِيْقَانِ : The two parties tied their horses at their respective frontiers, each in preparation for the other. الْمُرَابَطَةُ in its primary acceptation signifies "two hostile parties" tying of their horses, each at their frontier and each in preparation for the other. رَبَاطُ الْخَيْلِ and مُرَابَطَتُهَا signify the same. اِصْبِرُوْا وَصَابِرُوْا وَرَابِطُوْا : Be steadfast and strive to excel in steadfastness and (tie your horses on your frontiers) be on your guard )3:20( وَمِنْ رِّبَاطِ الْخَيْلِ : And of mounted pickets (or of horses tethered )861( رَبَاطٌ : )inf. noun( Tying; a thing with which one ties, binds or makes fast a beast; a rope with which a beast is tied; a snare for catching game: قَطَعَ الظَّبْيُّ رِبَاطَهُ : The gazelle rent his snare; The heart; قَرَضَ رِبَاطَهُ: He died; a fortress; a public building for the accommodation of travellers and their beasts; a religious house or house inhabited by devotees; a building for the poor; horses. فُلانٌ لَهُ رِبَاطٌ مِّنَ الْخَيْلِ : Such a one has got horses. 309
