خف خطف office of a speaker of a mosque. خَطِفَ ]aor. يَخْطَفُ inf. noun خَطِفَهُ خَطْفٌ and تَخَطَّفَهُ : He seized it; or took it or carried it off by force; or he did it quickly; he snatched it away. خَطِفَ الْبَصَرَ : It took away the sight. يَكَادُ الْبَرْقُ يَخْطَفُ أَبْصَارَهُمْ : The lightning might well-nigh snatch away their sight )2:21( يُتَخَطَّفُ النَّاسُ مِنْ حَوْلِهِمْ : While the people are snatched away from all around them )29:68( خَطِفَ السَّمْعَ : He stole (an opportunity of) hearing; or snatched it. إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ الْخَطْفَةَ : Except him who steals the opportunity of hearing or who snatches unawares and by stealth, or hears and snatches something )37:11( هَذَا سَيْفٌ يَخْطَفُ الرَّأْسَ : This is a sword that will strike off the head خَطِفَ also means, he went along quickly. ]aor. يَخْطُرْ inf. noun خَطْرٌ[ : He stepped, paced or walked. خَطَوْتُ خُطْوَةً وَاحِدَةً : I walked one step. خَطْوَةٌ : A step or pace, as meaning a single act of pacing or walking خُطْوَةٌ خَطَوَاتٌ : A step or pace as meaning the space between the two feet in walking )خُطْوَاتٌ and خُطُوَاتٌ and خُطَوَاتٌ are plurals وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوْا خُطُواتِ الشَّيْطَنِ : Follow not ye the way of Satan; or the footsteps of Satan (2:169). خَطَا 28 خَفَّ ]aor. يَخِفُّ inf. noun خِفَّةٌ[ : It was or became light; it or he was or became light in estimation; he was or became active, brisk, prompt, agile; he was or became inconstant, unsteady, irresolute or fickle or light-witted; he was or became agitated, flurried; he was or became light-hearted or cheerful; it (food) was or became easy of digestion; it (hair of the head etc. ) was or became light, thin, scanty; it (rain) decreased; it was or became deficient. خَفَّ الْمِيزَانُ : The balance had one of its two scales light, so that it rose. خَفَّتْ مَوَازِيْنُهُ أَمَّا مَنْ : As for those whose scales are light )7:10( خَفْفَهُ )inf. noun تَخْفِيْفٌ : He made or rendered it light. ذَلِكَ تَخْفِيْفٌ مِّنْ رَّبِّكُمْ : This is an alleviation from your Lord )2:179( خَفْفَ عَنْهُ : He made light or alleviated his burden, suffering, distress by removing from him somewhat thereof; he alleviated him; he relieved him. الْآنَ خَفَّفَ اللَّهُ عَنْكُمْ : For the present, Allah has lightened your burden. فَلا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمُ الْعَذَابُ : The punishment shall not be lightened )2:87( اِسْتَخَفَّهُ : 238
