حجب حج 6 22 : means: He shaved his head for Pilgrimage حَجَّةَ : He overcame him in or by an argument, a plea, an allegation, a proof, evidence or a testimony. لَجَّ فَحَجَّ : He was pertinacious in litigation and overcame therein. حَجٌ or حِجٌ : Pilgrimage to Mecca; the religious rites and ceremonies of the Pilgrimage حج is sometimes called الْحَجُّ الْأَكْبَرُ ie the Greater Hajj and عُمْرَةً is termed الْحَجُّ الْأَصْغَرُ i. e. Smaller Hajj . يَوْمَ الْحَجِّ الْاَكْبَرِ : On the day of Greater Hajj )9:3( ذُوالْحِجَّةِ : The month of Pilgrimage; i. e. the last month of the Arabian Calendar. حَاجٌ )plural( حاج حُجَّاجٌ )singular and plural(. أَجَعَلْتُمْ سِقَايَةَ الحَاجِ : Do you hold the giving of drink to the pilgrims? )9:19( حَاجَّهُ : He contended or disputed with him by an argument or plea حَاجَّهُ فَحَجَّهُ : He contended with him by argument and overcame him. الَّذِي حَاجَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فِي رَبِّهِ Who disputed with Abraham about his Lord )2:259( حِجُّ أَوْحِجَّةٌ )plural عَلَى أَنْ تَأْجُرَنِي ثَمَانِيَ حِجَجٍ حِجَجٌ : On condition that thou serve me for eight years )28:28( حُجَّة : A mode of argument by which one overcomes an adversary in a litigation or dispute; an argument; a plea; an allegation whether true or false; a proof; an evidence; a testimony; an excuse. أَنْتَ حُجَّةٌ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ : Thou art an evidence against thyself. لِئَلَّا يَكُوْنَ لِلنَّاسِ عَلَيْكُمْ حُجَّةٌ : So that people may have no argument against you )2:151( تِلْكَ حُجَّتَنَا أَتَيْنَاهَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ : And that is Our argument which We gave to Abraham )6:84( مَا كَانَ حُجَّتُهُمْ إِلَّا أَنْ قَالُوْا : Their only plea or excuse was that they said )45:26( حَجيج : One who disputes and overcomes by argument. The Holy Prophet is reported to have said: اَنَا حَجِيْجُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ : I will overcome him by argument on the Day of Judgement. حَجَبَ ]aor. يَحْجُبُ inf. noun حَجَبَهُ حِجَابٌ : He or it prevented, hindered, debarred him or it. حَجَبَ بَيْنَهُمَا : It intervened between the two things. حَجَبَ صَدْرُهُ : His bosom became straitened. فُلانٌ يَحْجُبُ لِلْأَمِيرِ : Such a one acts as the door-keeper of the prince. وَبَيْنَهُمَا حِجَابٌ : And between the two there shall be a partition or barrier or a veil )7:47( فَاسْتَلُوْهُنَّ مِنْ وَّرَاءِ حِجَابٍ : Ask of them behind a curtain )33:54( حِجَابٌ : A thing that prevents, hinders or debars; a veil or curtain; a thing that intervenes between two 165
