The commentary of al-Qa si dah 101 COUPLET 28 Many were those who were given to boozing; But you made them drunk with the wine of faith. Just as a drunken person loses sense of the consequences of his actions, in the same manner, O my beloved, you exterminated their intoxication of alcohol, but you intoxicated them with faith to such magnitude that they offered sacrifices without concern for the consequences. As a matter of fact, the hypocrites used to comment that the believers sacrificed without realizing the consequences. They spent money for the sake of religion without worrying about their needs for tomorrow. They sacrificed their lives as if their only goal was to die, and not for war-booty or fame. COUPLET 29 Many were addicted to playing music, But you made them enjoy the bliss of converse with the Gracious God.
