66 The commentary of al-Qa si dah COUPLET 11 They chose you, and abandoned their friends; They distanced themselves from their families. History bears witness that the people who accepted the Holy Prophet sa abandoned their towns, homes, and even their relatives for the sake of the Holy Prophet sa. They gave precedence to him over all others in every manner and circumstance. So established was this fact that God testified to this very fact Himself, in the Holy Qur’ a n where He says:      You will not find any people who believe in All a h and the Last Day loving those who oppose All a h and His messenger, even though they be their fathers or their sons or their brethren or their kindred… ( al-Muj a dalah , 58:23) I recall two incidents from Islamic history illustrating this fact.
