56 The commentary of al-Qa si dah If we disregard the first century in which the Holy Prophet sa appeared, and the fourteenth century in which the Promised Messiah as appeared, we are left with twelve centuries, each in which at least one reformer was to appear. These twelve reformers are the twelve constellations of stars in the spiritual universe. The reformers would obtain their light from the Holy Prophet sa in the same way the moon derives its light from the sun. Their light would not be their own, but simply a reflection of the light of the Holy Prophet sa. The Promised Messiah as , the Mujaddid [Reformer] of the fourteenth century, has stated in his Persian poetry: ¬ 7 } I ºM 9 É ~ M ¬ 7 I ) I ¶M H I ¶M È The fire of love that I possess I have received directly through the love of Muhammad sa , And the soul purifying water that I possess is from the fountain of Muhammad sa.
