Therefore, he says, the world of Islam shall reject it because they are not Muslims and Christianity shall ignore it because it cannot represent Islam and thus it does not have any legitimacy to defend Islam. This thinking finally took the form of a deliberate conspiracy, and Christian scholars colluded with the ulema who were opposed to Ahmadiyyat. It is at the behest of the Christians that these campaigns are being conducted against Ahmadiyyat. When in 1974 the campaign against the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jam a ‘at was launched, a weekly published from Delhi disclosed one such alliance. The Jad i d Urdu Reporter , Bombay, in its publication of December 20, 1984, wrote: Ten years ago, a weekly newspaper of Delhi, The New World , made the following discovery: Because Qadian i (or, as they call themselves Ahmad i ) preachers are busy breaking the momentum of Christianity in Europe and Africa, and since the Christian missionaries are powerless against them, in our opinion they [i. e. , the Christian missionaries] have a big hand in the civil unrest in Pakistan. The Christian missionaries want to weaken the Qadian i sect at the hands of the Muslims to such an extent that they would have no strength left to fight Christianity.
