50 Behold! How clearly had these two visions signified that there was going to be an incident which might seem dangerous, but was to prove beneficial in the end. Hence, the confrontation over Khilafat which started in 1909, apparently seemed to have dangerous consequences, but the greatest benefit that the Jam a ‘at derived from it was that they came to realize the importance and true status of Khilafat , and Hadrat Khalifatul Masih I ra too came to know about the elements that were opposed to Khilafat. This made him emphasize the point repeatedly that a Khalifah is appointed by God alone, and that Khilafat is essential for the Jam a ‘at to grow and prosper. Such counsels might not have proved beneficial to the mischief-makers, but there are hundreds of people at this time who truly benefited from them and have been saved from losing faith as they had heard a lot on this subject from Hadrat Khalifatul Masih I ra. In the second vision, I was shown that there was a mosque and some people had rebelled against its custodian. The mosque, in dreams, is interpreted as the Jam a ‘at. The vision makes it amply clear that there was going to be a custodian of the mosque (the words custodian and Khalifah are synonyms) and some people would rebel against him, and that someone from among the same people would try to deceive myself as well but I would not fall into their trap and I would make it absolutely clear to them that my joining hands with them would be a source of great displeasure to the Prince. When we look at the revelations of the Promised Messiah as , we find that he was also called ‘The Prince’ in some revelations. Hence, the vision meant that those who would join the rebels would earn the displeasure of the Promised Messiah as , i. e. ,
