For those who know the importance of religion, there is no reason to complain were the British to deny them minor jobs such as cleaning or sweeping for the Indians; for a benefactor deserves nothing but gratitude, no matter what the circumstances are, and the British have proved to be our benefactors. Some people say that the government is obliged to give us freedom and peace to the extent that we have it today, and to do so would be for its own benefit. Therefore, the government is not doing them any favour. Our point of view is that such a stance is tantamount to saying that our parents have never done us any favour, for they had established relations with each other only to fulfil their own desire, ultimately resulting in our creation. Is it fair to say so? Of course not, never. Similarly, though we cannot deny the fact that our living peacefully is advantageous to the government, but at the same time, we cannot deny the favours it renders to us. Since it was through this government that we have been able to achieve peace and comfort we are indebted to it, and we cannot deny this fact no matter what. Need to Stay Away from Worldly Agitation Hence, you must remember that the Ahmadiyya Movement is not going to prosper by getting involved in or inclining to politics. Any of us who join hands with others and take part in politics will never see success, for the one who abandons God to seek after the world does not even achieve the world. Therefore, if you want to tread upon the ways of seeking nearness to God, you will never find it by seeking after the world; rather, you shall find it only by seeking after Him.
