106 woman to suffer? How on earth can such a household remain peaceful? Verdict of the Holy Prophet About Status The Holy Prophet sa was indeed so graceful in his manner of speech that those possessed of pious nature cannot help but dearly fall in love with him. Since Arabs were very particular about family backgrounds and genealogies, they asked the Holy Prophet sa who among them was the most noble. They expected the Holy Prophet sa to name some tribes, thereby causing those who named to be considered more respectable by others. The Holy Prophet sa answered that the best among them was the one who was pious and God-fearing. They submitted, ‘O Prophet of Allah! Our question was not meant to ask about this. ’ The Holy Prophet sa then said, ‘Well, then the most noble was Joseph, since he himself was a Prophet, and so was his father and grandfather. ’ All praise is due to Allah. How beautifully he answered the question raised by his companions! They were provided with an answer, yet at the same time, no one’s feelings were hurt. They submitted, ‘O Prophet of Allah! Of course we did not mean this either. ’ The Holy Prophet sa said, ‘Well, maybe your question regards the tribes of Arabia. Hearken! The same who were considered worthy of respect during the age of ignorance, are also worthy of respect and noble in Islam. The only condition is that they must be well acquainted with their religion. ’
