THE B Ā B Ī AND BAH Ā ’ Ī RELIGION 43 Bah a ’ull a h goes to Sulaim a n i yyah After a period of bickering between the two for one year, Bah a ’ull a h moved to Sulaim a n i yyah in Kurdistan. For some light on this struggle between the two rivals reference should be made to Professor Browne in Muqaddamah Nuq t atul Q a f. During this period before he came to Baghdad a second time, Bah a ’ull a h, it appears, was in contact with some Naqshband i people, of which some trace is discernible in his later writings. One B a h a ’ i historian has opined that during this period of two years Bah a ’ull a h was mentally preparing himself for the position he subsequently claimed for himself 54. Return to Baghdad from Sulaim a n i yyah But on his return to Baghdad he found the same old trouble on his hands from his rival. As one way out, he tried to procure the return of S ub h -e-Azal to Iran. Bah a ’ull a h himself writes: "It was decided that Mirz a Ya h y a should go to Iran with these documents and try to propagate them in that country" 55. Mirz a Ya h y a , however, did not fall into this trap, and stayed on in Iraq, close on the heels of his rival. 54 T a r i kh Amr-e-B a h a ’ i , page 30. 55 Lau h i ibni Dha’ib , Urdu, page 112.
