Number Two 43 peace and blessings of Allah be on him, also ascended to the heav- ens, but who saw him ascending or descending? In short, O elders of the nation! You call me dajj a l and k a fir, and consider me to be a liar. You should ponder and see what it is that you have in your hands to be so brazen and insolent? Is it not true that it is indeed the death of the Messiah that is proven from the categorical texts of the Holy Quran which is the Word of God? God has explicitly said that he died as the verse: 1 اَّمَلَف ْيِنَتْيَّفَوَت provides evidence for it. You are well aware that the meaning of the word ى ّ توف —[ tawaff i —to cause to die] is nothing other than ‘taking out the soul’. 2 ٭ And then, another verse is: 3 اَم ٌدَّمَحُم اَّلِا ٌلْوُسَر ْدَق ْتَلَخ ْنِم ِهِلْبَق ُلُسُّرلا This is the verse that Hadrat Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, read out at the time of the death of the Holy Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be on him, for the purpose of reason- ing that all previous Prophets had died, and there was the ijm a ‘ 1. But since Thou didst cause me to die ( S u rah al-M a ’idah, 5: 118). [Publisher] 2. ٭ In the lexicons, when God is the subject and a human being the ob- ject, the word ى توفّ —[ tawwaff i ] means nothing but ‘to give death. ’ In the same way, in the Holy Quran, from the beginning to the end, the word tawwaff i has only been used to convey the meaning of death or the tak- ing of the soul. Apart from that, there is no other meaning attributed to it throughout the entire Quran. Author 3. And Muhammad is only a Messenger. Verily, all Messengers have passed away before him ( S u rah A l-e-‘Imr a n, 3:145). [Publisher]
