A pproaching the West—167 Specifically if one man swears foolishly and unjustly in the name of God, such an oath is nullified and he is made accountable for his ill-intention. All ā h will not call you to account for such of your oaths as are vain, but He will call you to account for what your hearts have earned. And All ā h is Most Forgiving, Forbearing. (2:226) All ā h will not take you to account for such of your oaths as are vain, but He will call you to account for the oaths which you take in earnest… (5:90) In the Holy Qur’ ā n, God is called the Truth (Al- Ḥ aqq) and all truth proceeds from Him. Vanity is equated with falsehood. Vanity and truth, therefore, cannot go together. And confound not truth with falsehood nor hide the truth knowingly. (2:43) … it is All ā h Who is the Truth, and that which they call on beside Him is falsehood and because All ā h is the High, the Great. (22:63) The fourth commandment relates to the observance of the Sabbath day of the Jews. Keep the Sabbath day to sanctify it, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee.
