The T abeeb of Delhi wrote: We announce with great sorrow that a famous and outstanding physician of India, Maulvi Haji Hakim Nur-ud-Din Sahib, who was also an outstanding divine and was a pious and righteous personality, and the revered leader of the Ahmadiyya Com- munity, died last Friday, after having suffered for some time from the ills that are inseparable from old age. To Allah we belong and to Him shall be our return. The Hakim Sahib of blessed memory set a high example of compassion for all the creatures of Allah without distinction of Ahmadi or non-Ahmadi, Muslim or non- Muslim. The following are some of the special qualities that he exhibited as a physician: (a) Friends and strangers, believers and non-believers were all equal in his estimation. (b) Besides the systems of Y unani and A yurvedic medicines he also had recourse to the Aloepathic system in the service of his countrymen. (c) He based his treatment of some virulent diseases on the guidance contained in the Holy Quran. (d) He reinforced his prescriptions with his supplications to the Divine. . (e) In his diagnosis and treatment he was not affected in the least by the worldly rank of the patient. if) He expected no return from his patients and exhibited a very high degree of trust in God and freedom from expecting favours from human beings. (g) He not only treated poor and deserving patients free of charge but helped them financially also, particularly students of Quran, Hadees and medicine. May God Almighty receive him into His mercy and bestow steadfastness on his survivors. He was the author of several books and brochures the better known of which are Pasalul Khatab) which is a comprehensive refutation of Christian criticism of Islam and of the Holy Prophet, peace be on him; Tasdeeq Brahenn Ahmadiyya) which is a refutation of the objections raised by Pandit Lekh Ram and other Aryas against Braheen Ahmadiyya; Nurud-Din which is a refutation of the
