Such a person should take an oath in my presence and state: 'I know as a certainty that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad was concerned in the conspiracy to murder Pandit Lekh Ram, or that he was murdered under the directions of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. If this statement of mine is not true may God Almighty impose upon me some terrible torment which should not be the work of any man nor the result of any human planning. ' Then if such a person survives for a year after his statement on oath, I may be deemed guilty of the murder and might be punished as a murderer. Now if there is any courageous Arya who can rescue the whole world from the suspicions that trouble people's minds by adopting this mode of seeking a decision, let him come forward to do so. . But no one came forward to take up this challenge. Had anyone responded to the challenge, the world would have witnessed another terrible sign. On the 16th anniversary of the assassination ofPandit Lekh Ram, a leading member of the Arya Samaj, Babu Ghansi Ram M. A. , Ll. B. , wrote in the Musafir Agra Martyr Number of 6 March 1913: This murder took place in Lahore, the capital of the Punjab Province, but the police utterly failed to trace the assassin. It was a coincidence that the prophecy of Ghulam Ahmad was fulfilled and Pandit Lekh Ram suffered martyrdom. God alone knows whether this was a torment afflicted by Him, or was the result of human planning. The assassination of Lekh Ram within the period specified in the prophecy, and in exact accord with the other particu- lars published from time to time was a great Sign, particu- larly for the Hindu community of India and more especially for the Aryas.
