Ahmadiyyat - The Renaissance of Islam — Page 166
166 AHMADIYY AT Ahmad and the Muslims were taught patience and endurance. In his life in Medina, his name Muhammad was manifested, and Gad in His wisdam decided to. chastise his enemies. But there was a praphecy that the name Ahmad wauld be manifested again in the latter days and that a persan wauld appear thraugh wham the qualities af beauty, which characterize Ahmad, wauld be mani- fested, and all fighting wauld came to. an end. Far this reasan it has been cansidered apprapriate that the name af this sect shauld be Ahmadiyya sect, so. that everyane hearing this name shauld realize that this sect has came into. being far the spread af peace and security and that it wauld have nathing to. do. with war and fighting [Tableegh Risalat, Val IX, pp. 90. -1]. I cansider thase maulvis in errar who. appase the study af madern subjects. They do. so. to. caver up their awn weakness. They are af the view that research into. madern subjects leads to. errar and alienates a persan fram Islam. They seem to. hald that reasan and science are incansistent with Islam. As they have nat the capacity to. expase the weaknesses af philasaphy, they seek to. caver up their awn shartcamings' by prapaunding that it is nat permissible to. study madern subjects. Their sauls tremble befare philasaphy and prastrate themselves befare new research. They have nat been bestawed the true philasaphy which is barn af divine revelatian and af which the Haly Quran is full to. the brim. This philasaphy is bestawed anly upan. thase who. prastrate them- selves at the threshald af God Almighty with extreme humility and nathingness, whase minds and hearts exclude all arragance and who. , canfessing their weaknesses, affirm humbly that they are the true servants af Gad. In the service af the faith and far uphalding the Ward af Allah, by all means study madern subjects and study them diligently. I must, hawever, utter the warning that it is within my experience that thase who. have pursued this study ane-sidedly and were so. taken up by it that they had no. appartunity af keeping campany with the righteaus, and who. did nat themselves passess inner divine light, stumbled and turned away fram Islam. Instead af subardinating their learning to. Islam, they embarked upan the vain effart to. subardinate Islam to. madern subjects and in their awn estimatian they acquired the manapaly af religiaus and national service. Remember, however, that he alone is capable af perfarming religiaus service who. is guided by heavenly light
