144 AHMADIYY AT person is delivered from the bondage of his ego and of Satan, and develops a natural love for the ways of God Almighty. I would also demand for them the holy spirit which is generated by the com- bination of perfect providence and sincere service of the Divine. I would also endeavour to obtain their deliverance from the vicious spirit which is generated by the combination of the evil ego and Satan. Thus with the help of Allah, I will not be backward and inattentive and will not be heedless in seeking the reform of my friends who have joined this Movement in full sincerity. Indeed, I shall be ready to face death so that they might live. I shall seek for them from God Almighty the spiritual power which should acti- vate their entire beings like an electric current. I am sure that for those who, having joined the Movement, shall wait steadfastly, all this will come about, for God Almighty has determined to create this group and to promote it for the manifestation of His Glory and His Power. God desires to spread in the world love for Himself and sincere repentance and purity and real goodness and peace and sympathy for mankind. Therefore, this group will be a special one and He will strengthen it with His Own Spirit. He will purify them from all impurity and will bring about a pure change in their lives as He has promised in His Holy prophecies. He will cause this group to grow greatly and will cause thousands of the righteous to enter it. He Himself will water them and cause them to flourish, so much so, that their numbers and the b~essings that they enjoy will be looked upon as a wonder. Like a lamp that is placed at a height they will spread their light in all directions and will be examples of Islamic blessings [Izala Auham, p. 460]. 0 my friends who have entered into a covenant with me, may God enable you to do that which should please Him. Today your number is small and you are treated with contempt. You will be persecuted in every way and you will have to bear all sorts of disagreeable things. Everyone who' causes you hurt by word or deed will imagine that he is helping Islam, and you will have to pass through some heavenly trials also that you may be tried in every way. Therefore, listen with attention that your way to victory and supremacy will not be through your dry logic or through your returning mockery or abuse with abuse, for if you adopt these ways, you will be left with nothing but words, which God Almighty hates and looks upon with aversion. So do not behave in a manner whereby you should become subject to two curses, the
