In other words, Maulav i Z afar ‘Al i Kh a n is saying that: ‘There was no one from among the Muslims worthy of protecting Khilafat; God took a look at the entire Muslim world and saw only Mah a tm a G a ndh i as having the power and cour- age to save Khilafat in Islam. God Almighty, Who has the knowledge of both the hidden and the known, gave G a ndh i this leadership role after recognising his abilities!’ The same Maulav i Z afar ‘Al i Kh a n says about Hindu- Muslim Unity: Five years ago no one could imagine this kind of unity.
