— Part IV 382 answered, 'This is because your children are seeking forgiveness on your behalf. ' 66 In this way the Holy Prophet sa fully assured children that even after the demise of their parents, the seeking of forgiveness on their behalf will not go in vain. It will not be just an emotional exercise but Allah will certainly benefit the deceased parents because of this. The Rights of Children upon their Parents Apart from the parents’ rights over their children, the Holy Quran also clearly mentions the rights of the children upon their parents. It declares: … They have suffered heavy loss who have murdered their children without realizing it. Similarly, they declared some food forbidden (unlawful) what Allah has provided for them, forging a lie against Allah (Allah had not forbidden for them)… (S u rah al-An‘ a m; Ch. 6: V. 141) On the same subject another verse of the Holy Quran declares: … … …do not murder your children for the fear of paucity of food–––It is We who provide for you and for them as well. … (S u rah al-An‘ a m; Ch. 6: V. 152)
